Preparing yourself for your wedding day -groom details

Preparing yourself for your wedding day - a guide for brides and grooms.

Preparing yourself for your wedding day should not be stressful after all it a wonderful day of celebration, here is my guide for brides and grooms to help reduce worry and to enjoy your wedding day.

For Brides:

  •  The night before
  •  Make sure you’ve left the evening before your wedding for to relax and enjoy yourself , either alone or with your friends. No last minute phones calls to caterers or florists. You can start to get excited for your big day without worrying about all the little things.
  • Think about what you eat and drink the night before. Avoid gorging on chocolate that could cause a break out of spots, order in a giant pizza that will leave you feeling bloated or polish off a bottle of wine causing a hangover!  Stick to light and healthy choices and avoid anything that might give you a dodgy tummy. Be sure to drink plenty of water.

Winding down

  • Pamper yourself with a foot spa or manicure, or by painting your nails in preparation for the big day.
  • Read through your wedding vows - it will help to re focus your mind on what the whole days about.
  • Cut all the tags off any bridesmaid or flower girl dresses and make sure all the outfits are steamed or pressed.
  • Try not to call your spouse to be, if you can’t resist, send them a special message to tell them how you feel.

Don’t forget…

Spend a bit of time going through your wedding checklist of all the items you need for the next day and make sure you know where they’re located. Make sure you remember:

  • Dress
  • Accessories (earrings, necklace, bracelets, rings etc)
  • Veil, hairpiece or tiara, clips and grips
  • Shoes (tights or stockings if required)
  • Underwear
  • Handbag and contents - alternatively assign the responsibility of personal items to a close friend or maid of honour)
  • Coat/wrap/shawl
  • Any other items you might need, such as alternative shoes for dancing, gifts and items for the following day.

For Grooms:

The night before:

  • Hang out with your mates, watch a favourite movie, it will help you to relax.
  • You’re not spending your last night on death row before facing Ol’ Sparky, so don’t treat your last unmarried dinner as an opportunity to expand your waistline. You might not care if your breath still smells of garlic or if you spend your wedding day excusing yourself because of a dodgy curry the night before, your bride will!
  • Last minute Preparations
  •  It is normal to feel nervous. Talk through any worries you might have with a close mate or a relative and you will soon realise you’re just really, really excited!
  •  Read through your wedding vows if you’ve written them yourself (or write them if you’ve left it too the last minute!) - it will help you refocus your mind on what the whole is about. Similarly, take a look over your wedding speech to make sure you remember to thank everyone.
  •  Cut all the tags of any new clothes that you and your groomsmen are going to be wearing and make sure everything is ironed!
  •  Try not to call your spouse to be, if you can’t resist, send them a special message to tell them how you feel.
