Real Wedding Photography | James and Steph at Clearwell Castle
I can’t believe we are already in October and so far this year I haven’t blogged about any of the fabulous weddings I have had the privilege of photographing so far this year.
So I am going to start with Steph and James’s wedding back in April. I first meet Steph a couple of years ago - she was my daughter’s swimming teacher and I had the pleasure of photographing the classes. It was a lovely surprise to meet Steph again along with James at a local wedding fair.
Their chosen wedding venue is a favourite of mine - Clearwell Castle - a stunning venue with beautiful gardens and a joy to work at.
Prior to their special day, we meet up a couple of times - twice at the venue, one of the times for their pre wedding session - a fabulous evening session with beautiful light. We explored the grounds together and found their favourite spots. (Pre wedding sessions have so many benefits - check them out here!). I also attended the church rehearsal, perfect for me to meet every one in the bridal party to have a quick chat with the vicar about photographing the wedding. We also went through final timings, chatted about what formal group images they would like on the day. (this isn’t set in stone and very often a few are added, some not done it - we go with flow but it is useful as a starting point), we also chatted about any other photos they wanted captured on the day itself.
Easter Saturday arrived and it was set to be one of the hottest on record, I arrived bright and early for bridal prep, a busy morning with the bridesmaids and the bride prepping for the day. I used these moments to capture not only the details but interactions between everyone. Paul from The Lemon House Photography was busy capturing the Groom and his Best man as they prepared for the day.
The church ceremony was filled music, a harpist and a choir featured throughout the service along with readings from family and friends adding a personal touch.
Following many blessings and congratulations from family and friends, everyone headed to Clearwell Castle to continue with the celebrations. At Steph and James’s request the group images were captured at the venue making full use of the stunning grounds.
The couple shots took place during the interlude between the end of the wedding breakfast and before the evening guests arrived, as the light was softer and the time less rushed, we were able to explore the grounds of Clearwell Castle at our leisure whilst also capturing some beautiful images that the couple will cherish for a longtime to come.
The evening was filled with much dancing and fun moments will a live band, a disco and a Photo Booth - always a lot of fun to capture these moments!
As darkness fell, I took the opportunity to grab a few night time portraits of the Steph and James before leaving.
Beautiful wedding with beautiful people, and a pleasure to be part of it.
