Real Weddings | Sarah and Zak Gloucester Shire Hall
Here we are, just into September and I am writing my first real wedding blog for 2020! It also happens to be about the first real wedding I had the pleasure of capturing this year. A beautiful intimate wedding at Gloucester Shire Hall, right in the heart of the city.
This year really has been an emotional rollercoaster for so many people with so much uncertainty of whether celebrations such as weddings will take place. I was so pleased when Sarah and Zak contacted me back in July when restrictions were being eased to say that they would still be going ahead with their wedding day as planned in August.
Sarah and Zak's day was always going to be a small intimate celebration with their closest family members (I offer a bespoke package which is perfect for smaller celebrations), their day wasn't too different to their original plans, however there were still some anxieties about going ahead during a global pandemic. Unsure which family members would feel comfortable about attending I kept my photography provision has flexible as I could, photographing the ceremony in accordance with guidelines and some couple portraits following the "I dos".
Photographing a wedding during a global pandemic was a little different to what myself and other photographers are use to, however I have to say it was wonderful to be back behind the camera photographing two people making a lifelong promise to each other. Despite the wearing of masks, the social distancing and all the other guidelines that have been put in place, it was still an occasion filled with happiness, joy and love and a great pleasure to capture.
Here are a few of my personal favourites that I captured on the day around Shire Hall and Gloucester Cathedral.
Sarah's dress was from Monsoon, her bouquet from Lily's Bespoke Bouquets and her headband from Casa and Flores.
For Sarah and Zak, it was their perfect wedding day and one I was honoured to have captured for them.
