Clearwell Castle Wedding Venue

Why visit your Gloucestershire Wedding venue with your photographer?

Once you have Chosen your Gloucestershire Wedding venue I'm happy to go for a pre Wedding visit with you but why should you visit your wedding venue with your photographer?

Having been a Gloucestershire/Cotswold Wedding Photographer for many years, personally I love to visit wedding venues with couples, in this blog I discuss why I would encourage couples to join me. Each Cotswold venue is of course stunning and has its own beauty, its good for me to visit your venue with you to find out more about how you envisage your special day.

Firstly, I want to view the venue with you, see why you chose a certain venue when there are hundreds of possible places getting married. Beautiful Cotswold Churches, registrar offices, stunning hotels, artistic barns, the list is endless. I want to know why? Is it the beautiful staircase, the high ceilings, the character of the Cotswold building, the scenic gardens or something quirky in the grounds. I want to know. This helps me to plan what and where I capture those all important memories for you, I enjoy incorporating those details into the photography.

Kim and David chose Eastington Park in Gloucestershire for their special Wedding day, one of the reasons the amazing spiral staircase - once I saw the staircase I could see why, it is stunning. Even though the sun was glorious on their wedding day,  I made sure the staircase was incorporated into a selection of the images. It was really useful for me to visit the this Gloucestershire venue with them and discuss the gorgeous details that really appeal to them.

Bad weather?

Here in the UK and Gloucestershire we can not guarantee the weather and therefore it is important to have ideas where photographs can be taken if the sun doesn’t make an appearance. At Hatherley Manor I was able to use the lobby and bar areas to capture some great images for Emma and Mark. It also means I can manage your expectations of which we may be able to achieve on your Cotswold wedding day especially in regard to group images.

Spending time visiting the venue with your photographer is a great way to get to know them and likewise I enjoy getting know couples before their wedding day. We will be spending a lot of time together on your special day and it is important to like and get on with your photographer.

When to carry out your Cotswold venue visit?

This depends on how far in advance you have booked your Wedding photography, recently I visited Laura and Robert’s Cotswold venue with them a year in advance of their special day, we waked around the gardens exploring special spots for their portraits, we also took the opportunity to capture some engagement images too. Visiting nearly to exact day means we have a feel how the gardens will look on their day.  However it isn’t always possible to visit that far in advance, a couple of weeks before the big day is also very helpful.

As well as visiting the venue, I also like to attend the rehearsal if appropriate, this is a wonderful opportunity to met the vicar and other important guests. I use this time to discuss the guidelines at this particular church - each church/vicar varies, therefore it is important to establish when flash can be used, where confetti can be thrown, where I can stand etc.

Venue visits are included in some Cotswold wedding packages offered by  Capture this Moment, to discuss your plans please contact me.
