Kathryn Goddard - professional photographer in Gloucestershire
Hi, I’m Kathryn, the smile behind the camera and the photographer behind Capture this Moment Photography.
This wasn’t always the case. In my 20s I worked as an Occupational Therapist in a large general hospital in Reading and then our children entered the world!
Can I tell you the tale of two precious gifts?
The first, our two beautiful children born more than 19 and 16 years ago.
And the second was my first proper camera. (A Canon DSLR. Not quite as beautiful but it has opened up so many doors and I love it!)
I’d had a lifelong interest in Photography and now I was keen to learn how to use my camera properly! (I now had 2 lovely children and their childhood to photograph, after all!) It was time for night school. That hobby soon became became a massive passion, then my profession and I simply couldn’t be happier!
My husband often joked that our children were the most photographed in the world! Well, I wanted to capture those memories and to be able treasure them forever. Soon friends and then friends of friends asked me to capture their families and their children.
I was hooked! I love capturing families spending time together, the smiles, the hugs and the giggles. I still love it plus it’s the perfect opportunity to try out my cheesy jokes!
The first wedding I ever photographed was our daughter’s reception teacher, to say I was nervous was an understatement! It rained heavily that day, there were loads of family situations I need to be aware of and our daughter along with the rest of her class also attended. Even with all these challenges I loved it! The details, the joy, the happiness, the laughter and the love.
My absolute favourite part of any wedding is the moment when the couple see each other for the first time! The smiles say it all.
During the last 10+ years, I have photographed 100s of weddings, each one unique as the couple getting married. I am always honoured to be asked to provide wedding photography on such a personal day. Never underestimating the responsibility that comes with my role of as a wedding photographer.
You can hear, read even watch more about my first wedding over on Wedding Espresso - a fabulous podcast all about weddings!
My work has been published in magazines, blogs and wedding venue brochures. I have also won numerous awards both in the photography and wedding industry. Although the biggest award I can ever receive is from happy couples. So that is always my ambition and goal.
In 2010, we moved from Berkshire to the Forest of Dean, no knowing anyone, I needed to get out there and mingle. So, I started hanging out in networking groups, meeting so many amazing and inspiring people. At this point, I began to realise the importance of high quality photographs to empower creatives and entrepreneurs. Using my skills, an attention to detail and the ability to put people at ease, I have slowly built up a business creating personal branding images.
I still get excited when I am asked to photograph a family, a wedding or to work with a brand. Each one is unique, what makes it unique? The people and their stories.
As I get older, I am learning to embrace the fact that my hair is getting curlier! I enjoy a good book along with a gin or two! When I haven’t got a camera in my hand, you can normally find me in the kitchen baking, reading, attending gigs and shows and spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy walking our dog and exploring the Forest of Dean where I live with my husband and our two children.
So if you are a planning Your Wedding, wanting to capture some memories of Your Family or looking for awesome images to showcase Your Brand - I would love to help you.
